GPT-6 Sol is the middle model of OpenAI's GPT-6 family, released 2026-09-22. OpenRouter lists $2 per million input tokens and $10 output, a 1,050,000-token context, and text, image and PDF input. It sits between Astra at $10 and $50 and Luna at $0.10 and $0.50, and a newer GPT-6.1 Sol was released later at the same price. It is closed and proprietary. We would suggest it as the general-purpose OpenAI model for agents and coding when Astra's price is too high. The limit is the newer sibling: unless a team has a reason to stay on the original, the GPT-6.1 version at the same price is the more likely target for new work.
