Continue is an Apache-2.0 coding agent available as a CLI, a VS Code extension and a JetBrains plugin, with MCP support. Its README now states the continuedev/continue repository is no longer actively maintained and is read-only, and that a final 2.0.0 release of the extension, CLI and plugin has been published. The software is free; you bring your own models. We list it because many older guides recommend it, and we would suggest it only for people who already depend on it or want to read its configuration approach. New projects are better served by a maintained alternative such as Cline, Kilo Code or OpenCode, all in this directory. The main limit is the one in the notice: with no active maintenance, new model support and security fixes are not promised. We could not find a pricing page for the project on 31 October 2026, so we record it as free on the strength of its licence. We have not used it ourselves.
