Qwen3.8 27B is an open model from Alibaba's Qwen team, released 2026-08-14 under Apache 2.0, a standard permissive licence. OpenRouter lists $0.15 per million input tokens and $1.875 output, a 1,000,000-token context, and text, image and video input. At 27 billion parameters it is far smaller than the 2.4T flagship in the same family, which is the main reason to pick it for self-hosting. We would suggest it for teams that want to self-host a capable multimodal model without licence limits. The limit is the wide output price gap against input, and that larger Qwen models and the closed Max line will do better on hard tasks. We have not benchmarked it, and our Qwen page has the vendor's own scores. Prices and specifications come from the OpenRouter listing we checked on 31 October 2026, and we have not tested the model ourselves.
